The Garden at 101

This 18th century saltbox home was given a sense of drama with a series of gardens that continually delight its owner and his many guests. Strapping, variegated Miscanthus grasses, mass plantings of giant green castor beans and colorful annuals tuck around the spa and lap pool. Dramatically pruned vines cover a cedar trellis and pergola to enclose the pool garden creating an intimate setting. Fifteen-foot privet hedges create private garden rooms to showcase a hydrangea allee, a cottage border of silvers, blues and oranges peppered with unusual annuals, and a walkway lined with 'Iceberg' white roses.

"Dave helped me create one of the most admired gardens in Litchfield County. He is a brave and refined designer, and a master plantsman. That combination of knowledge and talent is a rare find.”
